How much is my print worth?
Prints include lithographs, screenprints, etchings, woodcuts and engravings. Most sell for modest sums; the value depends heavily on the artist, whether it is signed and numbered, the edition size and condition.
Across 80,703 prints sold at auction since 2021 in the ArtSell database, the median price was $889. Half sold between $323 and $3,024, and one in ten sold for more than $9,450.

What affects the value
- Look for a pencil signature and an edition number (e.g. 25/100) in the lower margin. Hand-signed, numbered prints usually sell for more than plate-signed or unsigned ones.
- Check whether it is an original print or a later reproduction (offset poster). A magnifier shows a dot pattern on offset reproductions.
- Condition matters: fading, foxing, trimmed margins and staining lower prices.
