A flat earring, with the central space filled with tight spiral designs (found in Atoni bracelet work, which may also come from the same source.) Vroklage reproduces such earring in Sec.III, plates, in Ethnographie der Belu in Zentral-Timor (1953) and says they are called kavata (I:179). The Tetum marriage alliance system involves the exchange of considerable amounts of metal goods…” <br /><br />Reference: Rodgers, Susan.
