Jacobo Borges is a contemporary, neo-figurative Venezuelan artist. The mediums he has worked in include painting, drawing, filmmaking, stage design, and sculpture. Considered one of the most accomplished Latin American artists of the 20th century, Borges first received international recognition as a painter in the 1960s and attracted further attention as a theorist and writer. His oeuvre includes a rich body of paintings, a film directed in 1969, and a book The Great Mountain and Its Era, published in 1979.
